President’s Message

Hello CVARC members, families, and guests!

Ed Zimmermann-N6XEW

September was a busy month. 10 Meters was on fire! The Route 66 special event, and the CVARC Technician Class started up. October promises to be just as action packed.

At the September meeting, I presented Houston Herman-KO6AFN with the CVARC NEWBIE NET Challenge Coin. Congratulations to Houston!  You did an excellent job running the net! Who’s next?

What is going on for October?  I’m glad you asked. The CVARC Tech Class finishes up Saturday October 7th. The CVARC VE Session will be this Sunday, October 8th. Good luck to all! We are finalizing the slate of those running for the  2024 CVARC Board of Directors. And finally, the CVARC Club Picnic is set for Sunday October 22nd at a new location, the Conejo Community Park. Click here for details. The picnic will be potluck style. CVARC will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs. Sign up here to bring a side

The CVARC General Meeting is Thursday October 19th at 7:30 P.M. We will be discussing the 2024 CVARC Board of Directors. If you want to give back to your club, consider becoming a board member. Right now, we still have an opening for a Member at Large position. To find out more, ask any board member at the October meeting. You will vote on your club’s leadership at the November General Meeting. If you only attend a couple of club meetings a year, this is the one not to miss.

The topic at the October meeting is “What Makes a Repeater Tick”  From the simple to the complex, Matt Lechliter-W6XC will explain how repeaters work and describe the hardware needed to keep them on the air.  The pre-meeting dinner will be at Stonefire Grill 3635 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks. Check the CVARC Calendar for more information.

Hope to hear you on the air!

73,

Ed-N6XEW
