Ham Radio License Classes Return in January

CVARC is hosting four weekly FCC Technician License (Level 1) and General License (Level 2) classes.

The class dates are:

Sunday, January 13, 2019    Saturday January 19, 2019 Saturday February 2, 2019 Saturday February 9, 2019

The Technician License (Level 1) class will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  The General License (Level 2) class will be held from 8:00 am to Noon. Continue reading “Ham Radio License Classes Return in January”

In Memoriam

Melissa Reinhardt, KD6BIT SK

CVARC member Melissa S. Reinhardt, a marketing and advertising executive with close ties to the amateur radio industry passed away peacefully on November 9, 2018 after an 11-year battle with cancer.

Her ever-present smile was often seen at Dayton and regional hamfests. Over the years she created promotional programs for AOR, Alinco, Kantronics, U.S. Tower and others. She served clients in many other disciplines including manufacturing, sporting goods and financial services. October Meeting Summary

The meeting began at 7:30 with the Pledge of Allegiance.  First time visitors were welcomed, as were several newly licensed hams.  Thanks to Mike Felio-K6MJF for bringing the coffee, and Mark Horner-KK6IKX and Jim Inman-KB6JI for bringing cookies.

The recent Mini-Field Day & Picnic was a success.  Thanks to Steve-KZ6H and Mike-K6MJF.  The next Mini-Field Day & Picnic will be January 26 to coincide with the ARRL Winter Field Day. Continue reading “October Meeting Summary”

President’s Message

We had a nice turnout at the recent Mini-Field Day & Picnic.  People seemed to like the new location, so it looks like we’ll be back there for future events.  Thanks to Steve Gillis-KZ6H and Mike Felio-K6MJF for making the arrangements.  Also, I’d like to acknowledge and thank Dennis Fendelander-N2BEU for surprising us with a donation of various ham radio items.  The items will be free for the taking at the October club meeting.
