May 16, 2024 – Field Day: CVARC Field Day Chair Keith Elliott-W6KME outlines the plans for the club’s Field Day on June 22-23. CVARC members join more than 40,000 hams throughout North America in setting up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation.

June 20, 2024  – How to Work Amateur Satellites: Lately many CVARC members have been making contacts using the ISS repeater and other amateur radio satellites. Martin Hickey-AJ6CL will demonstrate how easy and enjoyable this can be, without using expensive dedicated equipment. Satellite contacts are also a source of extra points for Field Day, so be sure to see how we can all take part at the CVARC Field Day site this year!

July 18, 2024 – Activating Anacapa: Bill Willcox-KF6JQO discusses a planned expedition in August to conduct a quadruple activation (POTA, IOTA, Boats on the Air, and Lighthouses on the Air) of the National Park island off the coast of Ventura County.

October 17, 2024 – Hidden Transmitter Hunting in 1960s Los Angeles: David Pepper -WA6TWA, a retired laser physicist from Camarillo and a ham for over 60 years will take us on a trip to ham radio’s past. He’ll share his experiences as a T-hunter in Los Angeles in the 1960s – when rigs had vacuum tubes and vibrators for mobile use – and gas was 33 cents per gallon.

November 21, 2024 – Volunteer Monitor Program: Riley Hollingsworth -K4ZDH will discuss the ARRL’s new Volunteer Monitors program, which will replace the Official Observers program. Hollingsworth, a former ARRL Atlantic Division Vice Director, handled amateur radio enforcement when he worked for the FCC.

Thursday, December 19, 2024 – CVARC Holiday Party: Join fellow CVARC members, spouses, and guests at our annual Holiday Party, complete with a buffet dinner, awards and raffle prizes.  6:00 PM at the Best Western Posada Royale, 1775 Madera Road, Simi Valley.
