February 15, 2024 – Testing Your Handheld: Ed Zimmerman-N6XEW demonstrates how you can use relatively inexpensive test equipment to evaluate the performance of your handheld. Ed will also discuss testing band pass filters. Members are encouraged to bring an HT to the meeting for testing.

March 21, 2024 – Turning Random Metal Objects into Antennas: In this entertaining presentation, Keith Elliott-W6KME reveals the secrets of how random metal objects can be turned into effective antennas with a basic understanding of how antennas work.

April 18, 2024 – Radio Tracking in Animal Conservation: Nadya Seal Faith of the Santa Barbara Zoo will be joining us via Zoom to discuss how VHF radio telemetry is used in animal conservation. Nadya will share her experiences tracking animals such as California condors and island foxes.

May 16, 2024 – Field Day: CVARC Field Day Chair Keith Elliott-W6KME outlines the plans for the club’s Field Day on June 22-23. CVARC members join more than 40,000 hams throughout North America in setting up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation.

July 18, 2024 – Activating Anacapa: Bill Willcox-KF6JQO discusses a planned expedition in August to conduct an unusual quadruple activation (POTA, SOTA, IOTA and Lighthouses on the Air) of the National Park island off the coast of Ventura County.

November 21, 2024 – Volunteer Monitor Program: Riley Hollingsworth -K4ZDH will discuss the ARRL’s new Volunteer Monitors program, which will replace the Official Observers program. Hollingsworth, a former ARRL Atlantic Division Vice Director, handled amateur radio enforcement when he worked for the FCC.

Thursday, December 19, 2024 – CVARC Holiday Party: Join fellow CVARC members, spouses, and guests at our annual Holiday Party, complete with a buffet dinner, awards and raffle prizes.  6:00 PM at the Best Western Posada Royale, 1775 Madera Road, Simi Valley.
