President’s Message

Hello CVARC members, families, and guests!

N6XEW in action on Field Day.

It’s now July, I have seen my first June bug!  CVARC Field Day 2022 at Lake Sherwood, Saturday and Sunday June 25-26, was well attended by our local officials, guests and many members. Propagation was memorable, it was non-existent. Regardless, a great time was had by all and a special thanks to Mike Felio-K6MJF, Kat Hunley-KK6VQN, Robert Hunley-KK6VQO and Bill Wilcox-KF6JQO, for a most excellent BBQ.  It was a feast for the record books. A big thank you to all who worked behind the scenes to get it all setup and torn down! To Gary Bostrup-KM6DMM, who secured our site, and of course, Martin Hickey-AJ6CL whose excellent work kept us all moving in the same direction. Martin, thank you!

Our July 21st CVARC General Meeting, at the East County Sheriff Station, the topic will be: Go Kits: At least four approaches to mobile operation – go-kits -will be set up and displayed and the advantages of each will be discussed. If you have a go-kit you would like to show off, please contact Brad Ormsby-W6VO or myself.

CVARC General License Class will start Saturday July 9th from 8am to 12pm.  To register, contact Keith Elliott-W6KME at keith@w6kme.org. Be ready for the DX of Sun Cycle 25!

Newbie Net:  Our Newbie Net meets every Sunday night at 7 p.m. The Newbie Net is an opportunity for newer hams to get on the air and gain experience and confidence. More experienced hams or “Elmers” regularly check in and are available to answer questions and offer advice.  All are welcome.  We are always looking for net controllers. It is great practice and fun to be net control, so please sign up with Todd, KD6RCM at kd6rcm@arrl.net. #hamharder

Hope to hear you on the air!

73,

Ed
