President’s Message

Hello CVARC members, families, and guests!

Ed Zimmermann-N6XEW

It is with great pleasure and excitement that our CVARC General Meeting will be held IN PERSON, March 17th, the first time in two years!  I am looking forward to meeting all of you.
The guest speaker will be our very own Bill Wilcox. He will be discussing ways to reduce radio interference on Field Day. Check the CVARC website for meeting details.

Sunday, the 27th was the Ventura Marathon. Thank you to the many club members who volunteered for this event. You all help make it a great success!  Including Victor Zeng-W2AYZ, chase bike extraordinaire! He followed behind an 87-year-old man who finished the course in a little over 7 hours. Victor’s radio setup on his bike with a trailer is quite impressive.

Another Technician License Class will be starting on Saturday March 5th. It’s a four-week course. If you know anyone interested in getting their HAM License, please refer them to Keith Elliott-W6KME at  w6kme@cvarc.org. A VE testing session is planned for April 10th

Newbie Net:  Our Newbie Net meets every Sunday night at 7 p.m. The Newbie Net is an opportunity for newer hams to get on the air and gain experience and confidence. More experienced hams or “Elmers” regularly check in and are available to answer questions and offer advice.  All are welcome.  We are always looking for net controllers. #hamharder.  It is great practice and fun to be net control, so please sign up with Todd Kleopfer-KD6RCM at kd6rcm@arrl.net.

Hope to hear you on the air!

73,

Ed
