From Thursday, June 17, 2021 – Space Weather: Dr. Tamitha Skov-WX6SWW is known as the Space Weather Woman. She is a new kind of weather forecaster for our modern world. We know the impact solar cycles and space weather have on our hobby. Dr. Skov discussed how technology like our cell phones, GPS (GNSS), and other satellite services are susceptible to the effects of space weather.
From Thursday, March 18, 2021 – New Battery Technology: Kevin Zanjani of Bioenno Power of Santa Ana told us about state-of-the-art LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate-LiFePO4) batteries which are safer, longer lasting and more efficient than the batteries we have been used in the past. These batteries work well with small solar panels and are popular with hams for remote and Field Day use.
