CVARC “Virtual” Mini-Field Day Set for October 3

Save the date!  This year’s fall Mini-Field Day will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Restrictions on gatherings due to COVID-19 mean we will have to conduct all activities on-air and online.

This year’s event coincides with a couple of contests.  The California QSO Party will be held Saturday and Sunday.  Details and rules can be found at http://www.cqp.org/index.html. There is also a new contest that weekend, the FMH Portable Operation Challenge which intends to “optimize equal operating conditions for portable operating during a contest involving non-portable stations. The scoring allows and encourages regular home-based station operations to take part while offering a handicap-style scoring algorithm to be more equalized for portable stations.” More information can be found at: https://foxmikehotel.com/challenge/.

Paul Van Zuyle-K6PVZ has agreed to be CVARC’s SOTA coordinator and is inviting people to walk up some local hills and enjoy the benefits of mountain top radio communication during the Mini-Field Day event. Several operators activated local peaks during the recent CVARC Picnic. K6PVZ is offering to help people chose the right hills for their abilities and equipment and hopes to spread them around the Conejo Valley. If you are interested, contact Paul at k6pvz@cvarc.org.

The CVARC “Virtual” Mini-Field Day culminates in an 11:00 A.M. Zoom meeting where you can swap stories and discuss your results:
