Technician License Classes Set for September

Because so many people have been asking, we’re having a second Technician’s License class this year. It will be on Zoom again, starting the last Sunday in August with a short orientation meeting, then four Sunday afternoons in September. We’ll be using the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 4th Edition (Technician Level) https://www.arrl.org/shop/Ham-Radio-License-Manual/ which is available from the ARRL as well as other sellers.

Technician License Course Begins March 27

Zak Cohen-N6PK, is teaching our annual Amateur Radio License Course, Technician’s Level for 2021. This is the license that is the gateway to the entire amateur radio universe! You’ll also have a chance to meet various members of CVARC and be invited to our other activites. The dates will be:

Orientation: Saturday, March 27th, 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Course: Saturdays, April 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 8:00 A.M. to Noon

CVARC 2021 Ham Radio License Course Dates Announced

In 2021 we are holding three courses of classes, one for each license level. All of the classes run from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Saturdays and are held in a Zoom meeting. There is a shorter orientation class one week before the start of the main course. Due to COVID-19, CVARC is not holding in-person license exams at this time, but information will be given during the classes about taking the exam online. As soon as we are able to use our normal location at the East County Sheriff’s Station, we will shift from Zoom to the classroom and resume in-person testing.

Studying for License Exams

How do you learn what you need to to know to pass the license exams?

Until the restrictions on gatherings due to COVID 19 are lifted, CVARC will hold license exam classes on Zoom during 2021. Check this website frequently. As the classes are announced, details will be posted here.

You can also study for an amateur radio license on your own. With careful study and practice you can prepare for and pass license exams at all levels. Here are some useful steps to success:

General License Classes Begin on Zoom in September

The Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club is hosting remote General (Level 2) License classes consisting of 5 weekly sessions.

The classes will use the Zoom video conferencing software. Download it free here: https://zoom.us/. Practice setting up a meeting (also free) and get familiar with the software BEFORE the classes start. You will also need a computer with video camera and microphone either built-in or attached.

Class dates: Saturday September 19, 26, October 3, 10 and 17

Class time: 8:00 am – Noon

Ham Radio License Classes Return in July

CVARC is offering four-week FCC Technician License (Level 1) and General License (Level 2) classes.

The class dates are:

Saturday, July 20, 2019    Saturday July 27, 2019 Saturday August 3, 2019 Saturday August 10, 2019

The Technician License (Level 1) class will be held from 8:00 am to Noon.   The General License (Level 2) class will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Ham Radio License Classes Return in January

CVARC is hosting four weekly FCC Technician License (Level 1) and General License (Level 2) classes.

The class dates are:

Sunday, January 13, 2019    Saturday January 19, 2019 Saturday February 2, 2019 Saturday February 9, 2019
