Determined Sleuth Solves Field Day Inter-Band Interference

During the last three or so ARRL Field Day events the phone stations have been plagued by interference between the 10 and 15M bands, and to a lesser extent the 20M band as well. 

The transceivers for all three bands were within 10-20 feet of each other and all three fed individual band pass filters by means of lengthy coaxial cables.  The band pass filters then fed a multiplexer that in turn fed a multi-band hex beam antenna by means of a single coaxial cable equipped with a choke at the antenna.  Note: the band pass filters and multiplexer were all mounted on the same aluminum base plate in a plastic box.

CVARC Mini Field Day

The 2021 CVARC Mini-Field Day will be held on October 9th from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Dos Vientos Park in Newbury Park.  (4801 Borchard Road, Newbury Park, CA 91320)

CVARC will provide lunch.

Mini-Field Day is an opportunity to break out your Field Day gear, test it and make sure you’re prepared for the next ARRL Field Day, which will be held June 24-26, 2022 – just 39 weeks from today (save the date!)

It’s also a social event where we can gather with like-minded Hams and enjoy a pleasant afternoon in the park.

CVARC Field Day Site Selected

CVARC will hold its annual Field Day event on June 26th and 27th, 2021 on the field near the intersection of West Potrero Road and Trentwood Drive in the Lake Sherwood area. (34.139531, -118.881485)

Setup will begin at noon on Friday June 25th.  The actual operating event will run from 11:00 AM Saturday, June 26th to 11:00 AM Sunday June 27th.  Breakdown of our gear will commence immediately thereafter. 

The barbecue will be held Saturday evening.

CVARC Winter Field Day

CVARC has several special amateur radio initiatives planned for Winter Field Day 2021, to be held January 30 and 31.  The COVID-19 crisis makes it impossible for us to gather in large groups as we have in the past, but we are attempting to recapture some of the camaraderie and fellowship among hams in other ways by making the following options available for those who choose to participate.  Nothing here is compulsory.  The idea is to have some fun.  Feel free to participate in whatever interests you.
