Venue for the CVARC Drive-Up SOTA Chase and Activation Adventure

On August 19th from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., CVARC will hold its first-ever “Drive-Up SOTA Chase and Activation Adventure.”

For this event, no hiking is necessary! The location is a beautiful hilltop venue in the Camarillo Heights area to which we can drive our cars.  It will be a fun CVARC party!

CVARC J-Pole Build a Success

CVARC members went home with several dual band j-pole antennas after a build was held Saturday, May 20th at the East County Sheriff’s Station. Keith Elliott-W6KME gave a great “this is how it works” talk and most importantly all involved had fun! Thanks to Tom, Audrey, Linda, and April for the photos.

CVARC At Brookside Science Night

For the last several years, CVARC members have participated in a Science Night event at Brookside Elementary School in Oak Park.  Club members introduce the students to ham radio and give them a chance to get on the air.  The club’s involvement in the event was started by Stu Forman-AD6SF, whose son Harrison-KM6VGE was a student at the school. The most recent event was on April 28th. Joining Stu were Bill Willcox-KF6JQO, April Taylor-KN6QQW, and Zak Cohen-N6PK.

Spring Fling Rover Roundup Results

CVARC’s annual Spring Fling-Rover Roundup returned on Saturday, April 15th. The fun event featured a contest on 2-meter simplex where participants tried to make as many contacts as they could from local grid squares.

The top six finishers were:

The contest was followed by a picnic at Dos Vientos Park.

Spring Fling-Rover Roundup is Back

Save the date! The Spring Fling-Rover Roundup is back on Saturday, April 15th. It’s a fun event- actually three events in one! There’s the contest, on 2 meter simplex where you try to make as many contacts as you can from local grid squares.

The contest is followed by picnic at Dos Vientos Park. And finally there will be a SOTA event in conjunction with the Spring Fling. For details and complete contest rules click here. The idea is to have some fun. Feel free to participate in whatever part of this event interests you.
