August Meeting Summary

About a dozen members met at Don Cuco’s in Moorpark for the pre-meeting dinner.

The meeting began at 7:30 with the Pledge of Allegiance.  First time visitors were welcomed, and newly license hams and those who upgraded their licenses were acknowledged.  Thanks given to Mike Felio-KM6EII for bringing the coffee, and to Joe Sprissler-AI6MW for bringing the cookies.

New Website – New content will be added throughout the month; @CVARC.com email addresses are available to members who are interested; There are sections that allow comments.  Just like the newsletter, please send us anything you’d like included on the website.

Classes: General classes start on September 15, for 5 Saturdays, 8:00-12:00;  Technician classes start the following Saturday, September 22, and runs for 4 Saturdays, 1:00-5:00.  Both classes lead up to the October 14 Test Session.  Classes and the Test Session are in this room.  Questions about the classes can be directed to Bill Willcox-KF6JQO.

The Morse group now has TWO weekly nets; Sunday nights at 8:00 and Monday nights at 7:00.

The next Project Build, a Magnetic Loop antenna, will be on Saturday, November 10.  Please check out the information here.  If you still have questions, contact Adrian Jarrett-K6KY.

Brad Ormsby-W6VO spoke about his recent visit to ARRL and operating W1AW.

Guest Speaker:  Club member, Stu Sheldon-AG6AG, answered the question “I Just Got My Amateur Radio License, Now What?”

Next month’s meeting is on September 20.  The topic next month is What’s New at the ARRL.  The Guest Speaker is our Section Manager John Kitchens.  The pre-meeting dinner is at Szechuan Garden in Moorpark starting at 5:00.  Mini-Field Day is October 6.
