Ventura County Weekly Voice Nets
Each of the 8 Ventura County ARES/RACES Areas holds a weekly check in net on Tuesday evenings at the times and frequencies shown in the table below. In addition to accepting member and visitor checkins, each net normally has announcements of interest to Local Area members. Checking into a Local Area Net also checks you into the Main Ventura County ARES/RACES Net that is held every Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm local time on the 146.880 MHz / 224.020 MHz linked repeaters. The county net poles each of the 8 Areas for reports on the number and call signs for those checking into each net. Packet and 6 meter reports are also given. The reports are followed by late and missed checkins. This provides an opportunity for members who missed their Local Area Net to check into the County Net. Finally, general announcements of interest to members throughout the county are given.
Checking into an Area Net, or the County Net consists of giving your call sign, name, and ARES/RACES number in response to a request for checkins from the net control operator. Visitors are welcomed on all nets. If you do not have a Ventura County ARES/RACES number, indicate that you are a visitor.
If a net is not in progress 5 minutes after the nets scheduled start time, then any ARES/RACES member belonging to that Area should begin the net and server as the net control operator.
If a repeater used for a net is down, then members and visitors should tune to the output frequency of the repeater and operate in the simplex mode for checking into the net or for obtaining information on the alternate repeater or frequency being used for the net.
