Ventura County ARES/RACES Packet Check-in Procedure
Ventura County ARES/RACES holds its weekly Check-in Net every Tuesday evening at 1930 local time. You may check into the net via packet or APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) any time prior to Tuesday evening by sending a message to VCROC on 145.650 MHz, to VCTLR on 145.650 MHz, or by sending an APRS message on 144.390 MHz. Those who have checked via packet or APRS prior to 1900 Tuesday evening will be acknowledged during the County Voice Net meeting on the 146.880 repeater (minus offset and 127.3 PL) at 1930 local time.
Packet Check-in
To check in via packet sent a TRAFFIC message (type st) to VCROC and/or VCTLR. DO NOT check in by sending a BULLETIN or PERSONAL type message. The check in procedure is shown below:
On 145.650 MHz, connect to VCROC and leave the following message:
TO: st ckin
SUBJECT: Early checkin, your call, your RACES number, your Area
MESSAGE BODY: The message body should be left blank. Any message sent in the body will not be read.
On 145.650 MHz, connect to VCTLR and leave the following message:
TO: st ckin
SUBJECT: Early checkin, your call, your RACES number, your Area
MESSAGE BODY: The message body should be left blank. Any message sent in the body will not be read.
APRS Check-in
To check in via APRS, sent TRAFFIC to KE6NYT or KN6LA on 144.390 MHz indicating you wish to be checked into the net.
