President’s Message

Hello CVARC members, families, and guests!

Ed Zimmermann-N6XEW

What at crazy February we all had. Rain, wind and snow! Make sure to keep your batteries charged and stations in peak operational condition. Daylight saving time starts March 12th. It is a great time to check batteries, smoke detectors, refresh go bags, check dates on your emergency food/water, and change the AC/heater filters.

Thank you to all the Ventura Marathon volunteers! If you have never volunteered to work an event, you are missing out. It’s a blast! The event coordinators are always looking for volunteers.

The CVARC General meeting is Thursday March 16th at 7:30pm. Topic: Designing and Assembling Amateur Satellites: Abigail Outcalt-KN6SOT and Cole Fehring-KN0TCF of the Cal Poly CubeSat Laboratory talk about miniature satellites that have been used in low Earth orbit for many applications including communications.

CVARC’s  newest net – C4FM Digital Info Net – uses the Yaesu System Fusion mode and takes place every Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. It is very exciting to have a new mode to work. If you have C4FM capable radio, you do not want to miss this net.  Check the website for additional information.

Newbie Net:  Our Newbie Net meets every Sunday night at 7 P.M. The Newbie Net is an opportunity for newer hams to get on the air and gain experience and confidence. More experienced hams or “Elmers” regularly check in and are available to answer questions and offer advice.  All are welcome.  We are always looking for net controllers. It is great practice and fun to be net control, so please sign up with Todd Kleopfer-KD6RCM at kd6rcm@arrl.net. #hamharder

Hope to hear you on the air!

73,

Ed-N6XEW
