President’s Message

“Two Alpha?”  “No, 20 Alpha…  2-0.”  “20 Alpha?!?!  Wow!”  If you spent any time operating as AA6CV on Field Day, you undoubtedly experienced this.  Probably more than once.  We have a lot to be proud of.

Every year CVARC has a very impressive Field Day operation; the tents, the number of stations, the antenna farm… the BBQ alone was an impressive undertaking.  Working Phone, Digital and CW on eight bands, we made over 1000 contacts in 72 different Sections, 53 States and Provinces, and 15 countries.  Wow!

A big Thank You to our Operations Chair Bill Willcox-KF6JQO for his leadership and direction.  Thank you to all the Band Captains and all the operators.  Thanks also to Barry Stephens-AF6XT for transporting the tents, Rob Hanson-W6RH and Arie Izhak-WA6RIE for their endless supply of equipment, Norm Campbell-AB6ET and Martin Hickey-AJ6CL for keeping us safe and hydrated, Roger Armstrong-WD6EVT for supplying the spare generator and excellent power cable, Brett Price-KM6VFW and Zak Cohen-N6PK for securing the City’s Communications trailer, Diane Wainwood-KJ6JEJ, Joe Sprissler-AI6MW and Paul Van Zuyle-K6PVZ for their publicity efforts and staffing the PI desk, Jeff Reinhardt-AA6JR and Paul Van Zuyle-K6PVZ for providing us with copies of their photos and, last but certainly not least, Mike Felio-K6MJF and Christian Ylagan-K6CAY for the fantastic BBQ.

Ready to do some more operating?  The 13 Colonies Special Event is underway.  Try your hand at making contact with specifics stations operating from the 13 original colonies, plus the three bonus stations.  13 Colonies runs through 9 PM local time on July 7.  Many contests are listed on our club calendar.  There’s also a link to the Eight Day Contest Calendar on our homepage.  So get on the air!
