Basic Radio Tech Talk

Save the Date – October 19, 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  East County Sheriff’s Station Community Room, 2101 E. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

Amateur Radio – Basic Radio Tech Talk:  Digital Radio Operations

Curious about alternate means of making lots of contacts?  Frustrated that the HF bands seem to be dead?  Looking for a low-power, high-reliability means of making long distance contacts?  Want some information on local digipeaters?  Interested in free email via amateur radio?

Well, digital mode operations may be just the thing to reinvigorate your ham radio passion.

Typically, you only need one, low-cost interface, added to your existing amateur station, a computer (or sometimes just a keyboard) and some software and suddenly a huge community of digital operators will open up to you.  HF, VHF and UHF digital operating modes are available

It is not uncommon to work all 50 states using digital modes in just a day or two.

Our tech talk will explore equipment requirements, set up, and operating modes and techniques.  We will have at least one digital station set up for demonstrations.

Basic Radio Tech Talks are open to anyone and not limited to licensed amateurs or CVARC members.

See you on October 19.
