CVARC is offering free classes to help you prepare for the Amateur Radio License exams. We are currently offering classes for the TECHNICIAN (Entry Level) and GENERAL (Intermediate Level) Licenses.
All classes will be at the East County Sheriff’s Station Community Room, 2101 E. Olsen Road, in Thousand Oaks.
TECHNICIAN LICENSE CLASSES
Classes are held over four Saturdays, September 22, 29, October 6* and 13, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM
GENERAL LICENSE CLASSES
Classes are held over five Saturdays, September 15, 22, 29, October 6* and 13, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
*NOTE: Instructors may reschedule the October 6th classes to allow class participation in CVARC’s Mini Field Day.
The test for each of these licenses will be Sunday October 14 at 8:30 AM in the same location. The classes are free but you will need to obtain a text book.
The Technician License text book is The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, Fourth Edition, Level 1 Technician. Make sure you purchase the 4th edition, because the question pool changed July 1st. The General License text book is the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, Level 2 General. Both books are available from Amazon.com, ARRL.org or Ham Radio Outlet . Each text costs about $30.
